think outside the box

Real mothers come in every shape and size and are as unique and special as each of their children. It is crazy to think we will all do everything the same way or be equally skilled or adept in every area. We don't expect our children to fit preconceived stereotypes. We shouldn't expect it of ourselves.

Real mothers appreciate their own unique gifts and abilities and realize that different doesn't mean wrong. My husband says, "True, you're more likely to refinish furniture than string beads—but so what?"

Nevertheless, we are all women traveling the same road, and that's why I've grown fond of this link-up of misfits.

He didn't make us in black and white. He made us in color!
