27 WEEKS

It’s funny really, just how much people think a pregnant woman’s body is public territory. I don’t mind it so much, but whoa! – I know other preggos you better steer clear of. I’m actually rather thankful for all the strangers that stop me in my tracks to tell me “you’re adorable” or “you’re the cutest pregnant woman,” because honestly, I could use a confidence booster from time to time. This pregnancy has been rather troublesome and I don’t feel that "glow” at all whatsoever.

On that note, here’s my update:

How far along? 27 weeks.
Total weight gain/loss: Yeah…like 43 lbs. Sshhhh!
Stretch marks? Maybe a few. (Oh, joy.)
Sleep: I wish! Can’t get much REM sleep when you need a potty break every half hour.
Best moment this week: Our 2 year old laying his head on my belly and whispering “baby in mommy’s tummy.”
Movement: I think we’re going to have another gymnast.
Food cravings: Strangely…soups and smoothies.
Gender: Boy.
Labor Signs: The occasional Braxton Hicks, but nothing serious.
Belly Button in or out? My cavernous belly button is still holding on.
What I miss: Bending. Painting my toenails. Focusing. Being quick witted.
What I am looking forward to: The holidays. Nesting. Maternity leave and bonding with all my children.
Weekly Wisdom: Deep breaths.

  1. So sweet! Soups and smoothies aren't such a bad thing to crave..better than the chocolate milk and doughnuts I craved with my daughter!! ;)

    1. Well, don't let me fool you -- I certainly eat my fair share of donuts! :) The down-side of soups is that they're loaded with sodium -- that and my swollen shrek feet don't mesh well together.

    1. Thanks, Debbie! This pregnancy has definitely been the hardest. My earlier pregnancies spoiled me. How many children do you have? Are you a fellow blogger?

  4. Aaahhh! I found another mommy blogger who is preggo! I am expecting my first and he's a boy! I am 20 weeks (halfway, yikes!). It's funny how everyone experiences pregnancy differently and even you probably have a different pregnancy from your first. I am just soooo excited and sooo nervous! I'll follow you on social media to follow your journey. Happy to meet you!

  7. So funny how people that you don't even know suddenly feel comfortable touching your belly, right? haha. Your belly is just perfect. Those 43lbs are giving you that sweet little one, so don't even worry about a thang! :)

    1. You're incredibly sweet, Hayley - thank you! I always feel bad for placing too much emphasis on vanity, and so I'm putting forth a conscious effort to think rather about the beautiful ability God's given me to grow little people. To God be the glory!
