YOU

Today we’re talking you.  That’s right.  YOU.  If you’re new here, or old here, today is the day that you suck it up, say hello and leave a comment. Maybe you’ll tell me what you secretly want to be when you grow up, your must have beauty product, your favorite guilty pleasure, or about the time you drove your parents' car out of town when you were fifteen and didn’t have a license… or something… allegedly.

  1. Hi I'm Nora. I'm a blogger too. I got married within 90 days of planning. My middle name is May and I was born in May- no correlation. And I'm 25 years old and look like I'm 12.

    1. How cute, Nora, thanks for sharing! I've often been mistaken for being a lot younger than I am, but now that I'm 35, I see that mistake happening less and less. LOL!

You need to teach others how to plan a wedding in 90 day or less -- what a great blog concept, right?!

  2. Haha. Well, I can't tell you anything juicy like that. But I can tell you that my name is Amanda, I'm turning 25 this month, I have a 2 year old daughter, I've been married for 5 years to my high school sweetheart, I'm Mormon, I sew, I own an Etsy shop, I blog, and I raise chickens in my small town backyard. I'm fairly new to your blog so I haven't commented much, but I definitely plan to stick around!

    1. Amanda, I'm honored to have you here, reading this blog and taking an interest in my life. Thank you! Please send me your link -- I would love to check out your blog, also.

Additionally, we have something in common -- we both have a 2 year old. I'll pray for you if you'll do the same for me. Haha!

  3. Hi HI!

My best story of juvenile delinquency involves 4 high school friends, a getaway car and lawn flamingos.

  4. I'm pretty sure I've said hello before, but I'm never able to resist an open invitation to say hi. I don't have much to say because I am so very exhausted, but I will let you know that about an hour ago I tried to make a cup of coffee for my mum and a glass of coke for me. The coke ended up in mum's coffee, and the milk almost ended up in my coke. I'm pretty sure that's a good sign I was meant to be in bed two hours ago.

  5. Hi Mandi! I've followed your blog for a couple months but not commented. This is a cute post, great way to engage. About me: today is my birthday :) I'm 31 today and can't believe it! Although I feel better about turning 31 than I did 30. Maybe it's just because I've had a year to get used to it haha!

  6. I've been following for a while but I'm way behind on things. I know I suck as a blogger. Clearly I do or else I'd feel like my blog was great and I'd have comments coming out the ying yang.

I am thinking about doing a music exchange. If anyone is interested in it they should come check this post out. http://pinkowl07.blogspot.com/2013/07/exchange.html

    1. You do NOT suck as a blogger! Growing a blog takes lots of time and energy, and you should never feel that you suck based on the lack of immediate gratification. Honestly, it takes time for people to discover you. Being a great SEO is critical, and it's something I fail at regularly. I don't even have my own web address...I have blogger.

The music exchange is going to appeal to lots of great people - great idea!

  7. Hi Mandi! I'm Jillian! I just got back from spending a semester in London and traveling all over Europe and right now I am impatiently waiting to turn 21 at the end of this month!

    1. Jillian, I am seriously green with envy! I want so badly to travel Europe, specifically Italy. Maybe one day! But consider yourself so very blessed to have had that experience.

      Thanks for leaving your comment!

  8. Rachelle, I have attempted to find you on Twitter and give you a a great big Twitter shout-out for your birthday, but none of your links are working for me. Nevertheless, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

We have a ton in common - Jack Johnson, San Francisco, etc. But the thing about you that makes my jaw hit the floor is that you run to work when training for a marathon. That's ambitious, my friend! Wish I had that in me!

  9. Brand new to your blog! It is so lovely and so is your family. :) Since it is still early on a Monday morning (and the coffee hasn't kicked in, haha) I'm having a hard time coming up with something about me to share... But I did want to say hello anyway, and that I love your blog. xo

  10. Hi Mandi! My name is Andrea I'm from Costa Rica :) I am a a mom, wife and a software developer, I made an app (a Chore Board) but we added a blog to go with it (and motivate parents to be consistent) and we have been struggling with the blog part, it's hard, i guess the hardest part for me is putting myself out there and getting critics, so kudos to all of you who do it on a regular basis :)

    1. Hi Andrea from Costa Rica! I have wanted to visit your country for a long time. My husband used to surf Costa Rica quite a bit, so he's not as giddy about returning like I am.

it's definitely challenging -- putting yourself out on a blog. For people to dissect and judge. I've received very little negative commentary, but the one I did receive hurt me. My feelings were bruised for days, and I wondered if going public with my blog was worth it. At the end of the day, it IS. I get to meet people like you. So many wonderful women, fellow mothers, that continually support me and encouragement me. I just wish there weren't so many miles between many of you, for there are lots of necks I'd love to hug.

Please send me your link. I'd LOVE to learn more about you!

  11. I'm Carly and I'm a blogger as well! Uh when I was 15 I went on my first date and after dinner we went to a park a couple minutes up the road from my house and got in the back of the truck to look at stars and got caught by the police. Scariest moment of my life! I have no idea why I shared that but I think it had something to do with the fact that you mentioned illegal and parents and my parents still have no idea that that happened. Anyway, I love reading your blog!

  12. Hi, I'm Christine. I live in the town where Mandi does but we have never met IRL.

Beauty product? Well I am searching for a better facial sunscreen for daily wear that will not let me get a sunburned nose. My nose has been burned for over a month and I use Kerstin Florian SPF 50. I am desperate and my skin hates the Houston weather. Help, help, help.

    1. Isn't that crazy! Live here, go to the same church, and yet we've never met. However, I feel like I can hug you when I finally get the chance to meet you in person.

I'm using a facial moisturizer/sunscreen by Laura Mercier. It's not readily available to me at the moment, but if I think to get the exact name, I'll let you know.

  13. My name is Heather, nice to meet you! I'm a mom, wife, blogger, diy'er, and penny pincher! My confession: I have a love seat FULL of laundry that currently needs to be folded. We have been living off this clean pile of clothes for almost 2 days now. ugh. I just cannot find the motivation to get it done! :)

    1. I'm in the same boat, my friend. We have a farmhouse table in our kitchen, where we dine Sunday-Thursday. Well, half of it consists of clean folded laundry 90% of the time. I seem to get the laundry out of the dryer and folded, but it just doesnt make it to its final destination. I wish I could change this very bad habit of mine. :-)

  16. Definitely meant to write more, but my computer has been acting up. I'm new to blogging but loving it.

I'm going to go with guilty pleasure-a whole pizza and carton of ice cream to myself....not that I eat all of it. But the fact that I don't have to share :D

  18. So, I totally told my parents that I got my license at 16 - even though I didn't. I actually got away with this for almost a YEAR! I think at the end they had their suspicions, but didn't want to admit that they'd just let their daughter drive for a year without a license..... parents of the year or daughter of the year? Tough call.

  19. What an awesome idea for a post!

    Let's see....
Katie. 20. And I guess the thing about me that I will share is that the guy I liked for a year, got a girlfriend, without me being able to tell him how I feel first. It has been three months and I have been in a strange depression ever since. If you ever are by my blog, you'll probably see me talk about that subject quite a bit. Honesty is best, right? It has been tough though.
