DO WHAT YOU LOVE

I apologize for my absence online the last few days. I’ve been traveling with the family in celebration of Spring Break here in Texas. Though physically exhausted and uber behind on sleep, the time spent with my little family was nothing short of great! Enlightening even! I am so grateful for each of them – unique characters, but all of them possess insurmountable love for the other. *swoon*

Some people might look at me cock-eyed if I say I’m glad to be back at work, however. Doing what I do. Though, 5-10-15 years ago, I might’ve called me crazy, too.
 AND DO IT OFTEN

Here’s a thought for you, lovelies! Remember this today, this week, this year and always.

You have choices in life. Decisions are sometimes based on what the world expects of you versus what you desire. And with that follows regret most times. Guilty...guiltyguiltyguilty. I am making a conscious effort to find time to do what I love more and work towards doing it full time... personally and professionally. Can I honestly say that I am where I want to be professionally? No. Personally? Absolutely not, but before I settle and commit to something for security reasons, I need to first figure out what I love. I am no in way disregarding how blessed and thankful I am for having a job and how much I really have grown to love it, but every opportunity is a stage in our forever-evolving lives and who knows where this will take me.

Make sure your passions stays afloat and do not get lost in the sea of regrets purely due to security.

Security is important – don’t get me wrong. But jobs require a profuse amount of sacrifice, for which you would hate to waste on something unfulfilling. Forgive the cliché but life is way too short to settle, to conform and to push back your passions for the lifestyle you think you are supposed to be living. Rediscover what you love and just do it. Do not let the world hinder you. Do what you love, love what you do and do it often.

Make sure you find that "extra hour" to either do what you love or discover what you love.

“If our poor die of hunger, it is not because God does not care for them. Rather, it is because neither you nor I are generous enough. It is because we are not instruments of love in the hands of God. We do not recognize Christ when once again He appears in the hungry man, in the lonely woman, in the child who is looking for a place to get warm.” (Note: You may replace God by whatever you know is true.)

“Everybody today seems to be in such a terrible rush, anxious for greater developments and greater riches and so on, so that children have very little time for their parents. Parents have very little time for each other, and in the home begins the disruption of peace of the world.”

“Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat.”
-Mother Teresa

  2. Thank you, LeeAnn -- I appreciate that very much. Going after your passion(s) is going to take perseverance and mental strength, no doubt. But I believe in you. And I also believe that when the task at hand gives you fulfillment, the sacrifices that you make in the journey are painless and worthwhile. Best wishes to you! XOXO

    1. You are indeed blessed! I've dreamed of having either a resale shop or an art studio for as long as I can remember. I don't have either, but I am still enjoying what I do and I adore my boss -- gives me the flexibility I need AND it pays the bills. :) I will be stoppin' by soon to say hello...

  6. hey there! Thanks for stopping by my page today. We're actually headed to Texas in a few days as well - our bones are in desperate need of some heat! I definitely do what I LOVE. I'm so blessed to stay at home with our kids, even though I could easily go back to work, giving us two full paychecks. That would make a huge difference for us financially, but it's just not worth it. Great post!

    1. Well, I hope my fellow Texans offer you loads and loads of hospitality during your stay! The weather has been remarkable lately, so you're visiting just in the nick of time.

Diane, not only are you fortunate to be a stay-at-home-mom, but your kids are extraordinarily blessed to have their mom in attendance full-time. They will look back and relish these days! And so will you!

      XOXO

  9. I couldn't agree with you more!! If we hate what we do every day, then that is like hating life! Thankfully I'm finding my grove in being a mother, homemaker and wife, leaving a career for stay at home momhood!

Anyway, I am a new follower from That Friday Blog Hop! I'd love for you to check out my blog sometime! Have a great weekend!

  13. Beautiful post!
My grandfather spent years trying to maintain a certain "ritzy", glamorous lifestyle, only to get sick and die - and many of the people he wanted to impress were not even at his funeral. That is why I don't care if we rent a duplex or townhouse instead of owning a two-story house, or if my clothes and make-up aren't a name brand.
